NZDTA Conference 2012 - Rotorua - 25 - 26 May 2012
 
The Rotorua/Taupo Branch of the NZDTA invites you to the Oral Health Conference which will be held in Rotorua on the 25th & 26th May 2012.
 
'Love your Teeth' is the theme for the conference, providing a programme of speakers to challenge and inform. Further details can be seen in the newsletter, including programme, registration details, and accomodation options.

Colgate Oral Health - February Family Oral Health Event
 
Colgate Oral Care is proud to announce we are hosting the sixth year of our February family oral health event in conjunction with the New Zealand Dental Association and Plunket. Aimed at improving the oral health of young Kiwi kids, furnishing a brush and 1000ppm paste for a new child opens dialogue about oral health. This typically takes place at the 5 month core contact.

Auckland Branch, NZDTA - Office Bearers Position
3 November, 2011
 
At the up coming AGM in March 2012, the President and Secretary of the Auckland Branch of the NZDTA are going to step down. Prior to this date we need to look for nominations of two branch members to these posts.

2012 Senior Dental Leaders Course

Information about the 2012 Senior Dental Leaders Course.
Next year this meeting will be held in London (not Boston as it has been previously).
 
If you or any of your colleagues would like to be considered could you please send me the following:
1. A current CV and a letter outlining their case for going (ie. how you going will help to improve children's oral health in Australia or NZ)
2. References.
 
Colgate will pay for the course fee (which includes meals and accommodation - $10,000USD) and the candidate will fund their own travel.
 
The application deadline will be November 4, 2011. The Taskforce members will then vote on the most suitable candidate to receive the Colgate funding.
 
Also - please note that the next Taskforce meeting will be in Sydney on Thursday September 29.

Financial Assistance with Study
NZDTA is frequently asked if financial assistance or scholarships are available to assist students who wish to study for a Bachelor of Oral Health (BOH) from the University of Otago or for a Bachelor of Health Science endorsed in Oral Health (BHSc (OH) from AUT University. A list has been compiled in the hope that it may assist intending students who wish to explore the possibility of receiving financial assistance.

Medical emergencies training
The New Zealand Red Cross has developed a medical emergencies training course for dental therapists, dental hygienists and clinical dental technicians. The "Enhanced basic life support for dental therapists, dental hygienists and clinical dental technicians" course was approved as equivalent to NZRC CORE Level 3 by the Dental Council at its meeting in November.
